not the best. August 20, 2010 jdb the game was a good way to pass time. but it wasnt all that great to play. the game play would have been better if there was a free roam style hunt. the set path and the constant interuption by the guide was less then helpfull. this game is good for people they want to learn how to hunt, with all the tips and lesson that are placed in the game. another bad aspect was the AIMing. you have a steady aim when you are just looking around but as soon as you aim at the animal you are hunting you loose control. and it is over exagerated on the breathing. also. when you put the sites on the animal the auto zoom and focus is more pain in the butt then a helping tool. another bad aspect. is the mandatory objective within the hunt. i.e. fishing or bird hunting, or bear hunting. those should be option on the main screen as different games type plays. also maps are to small. and the game leaves nothing of a challenge except hittin the animal in the vitals for a one shot kill. all in all. this game is not the best.
Noy really my speed June 23, 2010 J. Buck (Southern IL) I bought this for my 7 year old. He found it too difficult to control and I found it too slow paced. Traded it into Amazon and got Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
:( Disappointing May 27, 2010 John F. Nelson Jr. This game is TERRIBLE compared to the other Cabela's games. It is impossible to fish, and the hunting is too restricted to really have fun. The only good thing about this game is the graphics (which are actually decent). Unless you want a game that is so frustratingly irritating, do not buy this game.
Here are the main negitives of the game:
-The fishing is impossible, especially when you are looking for a specific weight (every fish you get is "too small".
-Hunting is too overly-controlled.
-There's no uniqueness about this game.
If you want a good game, buy Legendary Hunts or African Safari. Both of them are pretty good games, with exciting adventures and easy to understand instructions.
Not as good as other Cabela's games April 19, 2010 C. Goodrich My husband and I purchased this game after playing Cabela's Legendary Adventures and Dangerous Hunts 2009. Both of those games are way better than this one. We found this game to be very tedious and the directions too sparse. It took us quite a while to figure out what to do in some places so that we could advance. The fising is the worst. We spent about two hours trying to get through one timed fishing challenge. We kept getting the wrong species, fish too small, etc... The controls are also harder to use than the other Cabela's games. The hunting parts are OK when you get to them, but the fishing challenges pretty much ruined it for us.
Overall, this game is more frustrating than fun in my opinion.
Disapointing hunt April 15, 2010 Joseph R. Raupp (Reedsburg, WI USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the worst hunting game i've ever owned. First off the controles are very sluggish. Im a life long first person shooter fan, but this game i wouldent even consider as a shooter. The auto-targeting with the concentration button to shoot at vitals makes for a lousy hunting experience. its not in the least realistic how it jerks from where you are aiming to where it wants you to shoot. The animation is ok, for a early 90's game. The constant chatter from your guide almost makes you want to hunt with the sound off. The variety of animals you can shoot is nice, but the way that they are constantly throwing them at you is not realistic either. They spawn it at random, almost right on top of you. Long story short avoide this game.
